I cried reading this book. My 7yo son has been struggling with ADHD, and like many parents, I tried everything. Oils, vitamins, diet changes, act. I have never been someone who likes giving medicine to my children, but after reading this book, I finally took him in to see a specialist. He was given medication, and doubled his reading and math scores in the first 2 weeks. They no longer want to put him in special ed, or hold him back.I will admit that it wasn't just about not wanting to put him on meds. It was the stigma of parents that do. "Oh it's so easy to just drug your kids" or "It's lazy parenting." - but after reading this book, and the look on my son's face when he identified with it, I finally got him the help he needed.Thank you! This book was such a blessing. I now understand how he feels, and can be a better parent. <3

This is a cute book, and the idea is great, however, I probably would not have purchased this one if I had read it prior. The thing I disliked the most, is how mom tells Louis that she “has had it with him” and that she called the list she wrote a “nag board”. The thing I liked was how she gave him the “tools” to help him succeed. I would have rather seen this written as a little more positive approach.

Julia Cook has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I am a teacher and I believe she has the most perfect books to help with classroom management. I hope to continue to build my collection of her books to use throughout the school year. They are a meaningful, fun, engaging way to help communicate a message to young children. This particular book tells the story of a "busy body," and shares strategies that very active children sometimes need to use to be successful. It's a great way to reiterate that every student is an individual and has their own needs!

Purchased for reading with my Autistic son (6yrs old and in Kindergarten). I LOVE the storyline and it keeps the interest of my son while delivering an important message! I shared this book with his Kindergarten teacher and she has asked to keep it in the classroom to read/share with ALL 25 kids! It respectfully explains how ASD or ADD/ADHD kids feel throughout the day while also showing that responsibility for personal actions is important for EVERYONE! I hope others benefit from this story just as our family has... as a RN and mother I HIGHLY suggest you purchase or seek out these books at your local library for your children. You won't be disappointed :)

This is undoubtedly the best book I have read to my son about his behavior. He actually asked if the book was about him. My son is 5 and has been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. We are not currently medicating, but are working on some behavior modifications. I don't think this book is exclusively for ADD/ADHD children, however, most children have problems sitting still & focusing! I love that this book is not only relate-able for children, but also give very clear ideas and solutions to the behavior. It IS hard to be a busy 5 year old with ADD, however, there are ways to work with it. The ideas are life skills that my son can use for the rest of his life. It is harder to get through life with ADD, I have it too and know first hand how difficult staying on task in school and in work can be. However, adopting the skills necessary at a very young age is so important.Another reviewer commented how the dad in the book thinks that some of the methods are "strange". I also like that part of the book. It demonstrates that while some people may think the methods are odd, they can still help!

For grades K-2. Kids this age may not know what a verb is (word is repeated throughout text).Story is not engaging--repetition of "my knees start itching, my toes start twitching, skin gets jumpy, others get grumpy" for various situationsonly coping strategies presented- toy to squeeze- movement break described in an odd way (wiggle your wiggles before they wiggle you"; this seems to be used at home, not school- a list of expectations (get out of bed on time)The book seems to describe a child with ADHD, but this diagnosis is never mentioned. The teacher and parents yell at the child to try harder to focus.Disability awareness and acceptance are common traits of successful students and adults with AD/HD. Along with therapists and SPED teachers, parents play a critical role in helping children understand and cope with their disabilities. Be sure to recommend these resources to your friends and your child’s teachers.Here are other superb books for children and teens with AD/HD. In the end I didn't quite see the message transferring to my 6 yo. Of course he should be happy with who he is and we celebrate it but being the parent of a child that is also medicated for ADHD, the message resonates in the wrong way. Are we failing him by not exhausting every method (which we did). Our son enjoys it but as far as his parents go it created some uneasy feelings.

This book went well beyond how to dress for success and being charismatic - diving into morality, family relationships, and loving "uncondishy". Davis was not afraid to explore the oft taboo themes of infidelity, unplanned pregnancy and body shaming. It is fresh to hear an ‘everyday’ man’s perspective on these matters and Davis navigates them with charm, purpose and just the right dose of humor.Instead of preaching and acting ‘holier than thou’, Davis connects through revisiting his own trials and tribulations, sharing his lessons-learned and narrating his most-pivotal instants of vulnerability (being the kid wearing ‘husky’ jeans in middle school) and self-doubt (competing in an epic underground dance tournament).It’s an enjoyable read that offers valuable insight with as many unexpected laughs as genuine heart-filled moments. I intended this purchase for my husband but on a whim offered it up to my 12 yr old son. He devoured it. In fact, he told us his Christmas list could be found on page 133-138. :). Honestly I think the book helped things “click” for him in a way that “just listening to your parents” couldn’t have done. I am thrilled w the book obviously!!!

I bought this book for my son on his 14th bday. I thought since he was entering high school, it would be a perfect time for him to read a book like this. I could not be happier! I started to read it just so I knew what information was in it & I could not put it down. It is a very easy read; funny, engaging, informative, and teaches very valuable lessons that I, as a single mom, needed a hand in teaching my son. I would recommend this book to everyone!

This book is for everyone, not just young men. We can all use a fresh reminder on how to use kindness in this sometimes heartless world we live in. I loved this book from cover to cover, the pictures are just as inspiring as his story and message. THIS BOOK IS A MUST HAVE!!!

Not only is this book well written, with a beautiful message, it is also EXTREMELY relatable. Anyone from a teenager to an adult can read this book and find it meaningful. Kelvin Davis is keeping it real with his advice, stories, and testimonies. I highly recommend this book to anyone trying to be, trying to raise or trying to teach a "Modern Gentleman".

After reading this book, I can say this is very insightful guide to the principles underlying hermetic. Each of the seven principles is presented and discussed in an easy to understand manner. However, to apply these principles to your life is another matter. This book is not about the practice of hermetic, but about the primal philosophy that transcend mysticism and religion. It is an invaluable addition to your library, but only if you are ready for it.The author(s) of this book, who we know only as Three Initiates, starts out describing the fundamentals of the hermetic history and philosophy. Then it briefly introduces the seven principles of hermetic, setting a framework for further discussion:I. The Principle of MentalismII. The Principle of CorrespondenceIII. The Principle of VibrationIV. The Principe of PolarityV. The Principle of RhythmVI. The Principle of Cause and EffectVII. The Principle of GenderPrior presenting each principle, Three Initiates builds up the necessary knowledge to understand it better. For example, concepts of "Mental Transmutation" and "The All" are discussed before starting with the Principle of Mentalism. Each principle is explained with some detail, and multiple examples.Finally, Three Initiates advices us against the pursuing Knowledge without expressing it into Action, which otherwise becomes a vain affair. The Kybalion gives us a glimpse of these.This thin book is an alchemical modern-day distillation of – NOT creating worldly riches – but of creating mental and spiritual riches: wisdom. The authors are 3 anonymous ‘Initiates’ utilizing Hermetic Principles, passed down to wise “King” Solomon (whose name means “3 lights”, and who lived from 970-931 BCE). These Principles were then later passed down through the portals of the Ancient Mystery Schools 3 ½ centuries ago. Thus, information from that time has been slowly and carefully transmitted through many generations of those who have had the burning desire to question their existence on earth and want to know how they fit into the scheme of things, among other things. Information continued to be guarded by presenting allegorical ‘stories’ and being part of ‘initiations’ of learning and then having that knowledge themselves if they are deemed wise enough to use it properly. Only then could an ‘initiate’ progress onto even higher levels of thought and activity. (Note that one organization with roots in the distant past that survives even today has a person in office named the “Thrice Illustrious Master”.)Attaining wisdom in this way, from mouth-to-ear, this information was safely spread far and wide, and ‘nuggets of truth’ were written allegorically in order to deter or confuse those who didn’t have the correct knowledge ‘base’ to understand it or misuse the information.To originally write this book in 1908, the “3 Initiates” carefully examined the allegories and replaced them with a more practical, easy-to-understand book of these previously ‘hidden” philosophies. They did this as a tip of the hat to the changing of the times in the way that people were starting to think and learn. And to save time.Hermes Trismegistus (from which the word ‘Hermetic’ derives) was ‘half god/ half man’, living in the earliest days of the oldest of the Egyptian dynasties, and then in other incarnations (one of which was Greece) he was the son of Zeus and Maia, the daughter of Atlas. By virtue of being ‘half god/ half man’, he would have knowledge that mere mortals would not have. Hermes is the font from which Hermetic Philosophy flows. He is the progenitor and author of the Hermetic Corpus, a series of sacred texts. This book, The Kybalion is a ‘distillation’ of these original books. I am incredibly impressed by the content, structure, and formatting of this book. The text spans over 1500+ pages and contains a load of knowledge concerning all you ever wanted to know about maintaining or servicing a vehicle. It is a great investment for an individual studying to become a technician, an enthusiast, or just anyone who wants to learn how today's advanced internal combustion vehicle operates. I am about 1/4th of the way through and feel much more confident in regards to my knowledge of how a vehicle operates as well as the businesses that service them. I picked my copy up used for around $85.00, and I feel like this was a steal for all of the knowledge and experience contained within. A word of advice on textbooks (collegiate and technical); buy used. Do not be the one to take all of the depreciation. This book is not too old either, and all of the information within is timeless. Supposedly a new edition is coming out next year, and usually new editions are nothing new at all, but with how some vehicles have evolved since this books' publication (Tesla), I am interested to see the updates. Another aspect of this book that I really enjoy is that it is not one sided (everything is like a GM product). In addition, the author conveys a positive, warm, and educational tone that is not overbearing or arrogant (he knows that you are attempting to learn). In closing, books will only go so far in a career field like this, but I am studying to become a Lexus Certified Technician and am incredibly impressed.

I bought this book for a night summer class I took to learn about cars (it was required) but I am very impressed on how much information is in it. It is definitely geared towards people that plan on going into the industry since it has a lot of "how to" interface with customers but it still has plenty of information, and background, on all types of cars.It is structured so that it will describe how a system works, like the brakes, the different types of systems, how to diagnose them, and then how to fix most, if not all, of the problems that come up.

Contains all information you'll ever need for car repair, I use it to study for my Automotive Service classes at school.

Short and Sweet on this one. Get it! St Michael the Archangel is one whom you want on your side. Full of prayers, devotions, and information about St. Michael.

This little book is a treasure to have!It gives insight to what was given long ago.It help establish reverence for such a powerful being called the Prince of all the angels. Archangel Michael did cast out of heaven all that we see and suffer now in are times now with his host at his side. God's Holy will wouldn't allow these character behavioral at terns in His Heaven. One archangel this Archangel against all the present evils we presently see and his host against the devil, Satan and that once was lucifer and host 1/3 of entire host of Heaven. That's alot!!!Furthermore, in my opinion Archangel Michael was the first celestial being to establish the latin motto,"veni, vedi, vici" I came, I saw, I conquered"We all need to establish a contrite relationship with those who know how to deal with problematic issues daily. Archangel Michael has been there were we are and victorious conquer by true unquestionable example. Which I am grateful to know that there's an example to remember who humbly "STANDS" in the present of God with willingness to help all to this day.Lastly, we all have problematic issues please reflect with deference and read this little humble book and then ask God first to introduce you to this sagacious friend in trying to be more contrite needful problematic issues of today, to establish friendship with a amazing awesome being like Archangel Michael will enhance all noble moral dreams centered true.This is worth reading because I believe everything from "Tan" is the truth.

What a delight this little (and it is little) book is! About the size of a chicken breast, this bookilini packs all the information you'd ever want about St. Michael, the archangel, including why the world needs our prayers to St. Michael--the first chapterini explains why we might take up a devotion to the archangel.The second chapterini is a history of St. Michael--in scripture, in Church teaching, and in Church lore (the text makes clear what is lore and what isn't).The third chapterini details St. Michael's offices--the work he does for Heaven and for Earth (the Church as well as the Church Militant).The final chapterini provides a number of prayers to St. Michael, including the Litany to St. Michael as well as the Chaplet of St. Michael.You can read this bookilini in a single sitting, and it's small enough to carry in your purse or pocket, in case you want those prayers readily available.

He loves when I read to him from this book. It's a small small book, which surprised me. It's more of an adult book too. I guess I didn't read the dimensions, but the content is good and accurate. No pictures. But my 4 year old is obsessed with St. Michael so this book is fun for mommy to read to him. Has good miracles of appearances of Angels to saints through out time, brief stories of Popes. If your interested in facts on who and what angels are this is helpful. There is a lot of misinformation out there on angels, this will get you going in the right direction. If you think angels are like a good luck charm or belong in a video game than this book will not be helpful to you. "Truth is truth even if no one believes it."

This is a very informative little booklet. If you were expecting an in depth book, look else where. For such a short book, I enjoyed it and found the Chaplet very informative as well. I didn't even know there was a Chaplet for St. Michael.I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a pocket reference, but that is what you are getting.

This is a small but very powerful little booklet!For me, St. Michael comes first after the Holy Trinity, caring for me from dark entities. He is very powerful in protecting all that is good, and that is us, God's children (in my opinion).This book also includes some prayers in the back that are new to me, but I will use them. I praise him for the liberties he has taken to fight the devil for us here on earth, as well as for those in purgatory or elsewhere.I recommend this small booklet as an acknowledgement of security for Peace from Satan and his demons. You can keep it at home or carry it around with you.

It is a comfort to know that St. Michael defends us from evil through the power of our father in heaven. A must have for all that can be comforted in knowing that God sends his angels to protect us!

As Michael the Archangel is my patron saint, I know alot about him but this remarkable book is packed with alot more history and knowledge about this magnificent Archangel than I ever dreamed existed ! Not only that, the book contains many, many prayers and novenas for Michael and his feast-days, along with the complete Chaplet of St. Michael (to be done with his chaplet beads). What a fantastic book, and I plan to get a few more copies for members of my catholic church!
