Pros: Easy to read; interesting enough. Very good section on how to convey bad new to hispanic or Spanish patients.Cons: (1) In the first half of the book, several of the nouns were not accompanied by the definite or indefinite article so I ended up having to look them up in my dictionary. Same problem with the mini-dictionary at the back of book. Yes, some nouns are obviously masculine or feminine but others aren't.(2) Might have been helpful if the authors had included alternative names based on location of patients. For example, bedpan may be "la chata" in some regions of the world but some patients know is as "la bacinilla". Other similar books will give two alternatives (where applicable) and specify "Sp" for Spain and "LAm" for Latin America.(3) There were a few errors that seemed silly and should have been picked up by an editor. For example, page 113 says tongue depressor is "la pisa-lengua" while pg 140 says "la pisalengua". Since when are authentic Spanish nouns hyphenated? And if it were a true word, a combined word ("pisa" and lengua") would be masculine with an "s" at the end; i.e., el pisalenguas (even for singular noun). My gigantic dictionary and internet search states the correct word is "el bajalenguas" or el depresor".

Excellent book for someone in the health care field. My wife is a nurse who has to give patients instructions in Spanish everyday. This book comes in very handy for her. She loves it.

Excellent. For the past 15 years I have bought 2-3 copies per year to give to students on our medical missions to Ecuador or the Dominican Republic. And they have used it, and given me good reviews! This has a very good balance of what's needed on such trips. It's a large-format paperback though, and I wish the newer editions had remained the smaller size of the older ones for traveling purposes.

I probably didn't spend enough time reading this, which is why I gave four stars. I was committed to re-learning Spanish (my high school class has long left my mind). The book was easy to understand and relate to one another. For me, it was difficult for me to apply what I was learning. I ended up deciding to take a class. If you have the discipline then you will enjoy this book!

I have savored every page of this book as the tension builds. Young women working underground in Nazi-occupied France certainly got the job done, and it is nice to learn of their courage. So many roles played by women in World War II have been downplayed in light of the horrendous exploits of the military that it is gratifying that they are coming to light for a new generation of readers. This is another book marking the seventy-fifth anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, and deals primarily with France prior to the arrival of the troops. It is a fascinating read, and worthwhile as well as timely

This is a captivating look into stories of women who helped to win WW II. The author, Sarah Rose, does an excellent job of giving voice to the too often marginalized voices of women who were part of the war effort. As I read this book, I felt as if I was stepping back in time and observing the lives of these heroic, yet also human, women. Rose does a great job of giving enough historical context to follow the historical events and the actions of the women relative to the action. Beautifully crafted, it is a book that deserves a lot of credit for bringing light to the experiences of women during the war.

This non-fiction account of the events leading up to D-Day and the year after, read like a novel. We’re allowed to know the British spies on a deeply personal level - and that leads to an eye-opening result - and a great learning experience. The courage these woman had is indescribable.I had always been led to believe that when the Germans took over France, the French gave up - offering little or no resistance. This account changed my belief. It is true that there was no great battle royal - but what was going on behind the scenes was remarkable. With the help of the British spies, what was a disjointed, unorganized resistance movement became a well-oiled machine and it came into play after the Allied Forces broke through at Normandy. The reason the Allies had an open highway to Berlin, was the French Resistance - who paved the way, blowing up bridges, train stations and supply trains, power plants, and troop movements.This was an impressively researched book - and a necessary one, to set the record straight!

There is insufficient and unreliable information regarding the details of light therapy. There is just enough information for a foolish reader/user to harm himself/herself. Too little information is dangerous. There is too much filler and generality, similar to a bad high school report stretched considerably to make the required length. There are too many mistakes in grammar and vocabulary. Basically, it's "junk writing."

This is possibly the most poorly-written "book" (actually a 15-page leaflet) I have ever wasted my money on. It appears to have been translated from some unknown language using something like Google Translate (though I believe Google Translate would have done a considerably better job). There is no useful information, nor any reason to believe the writer actually knows anything about the subject. Amazon should be ashamed to even offer this worthless drivel.

This book was so good, I love how she struggled to get free but how she never stopped fighting. I specially enjoyed the moment she sees her mates all bloodied and broken but still tells them she rescued herself lol. The end of the book was touching and unexpected “A dragon!!!!, I can’t wait for her to show the gods to not mess with her or her mates. Our Goddess is growing up and in this one she discovers all the dirty secrets about her DNA. The gods need to die. Cass knows now that she must stop them no matter the cost but Cass also loses a lot in the process and at the end we get a glimpse of what is exactly is instore for book 4 . A court of Ice and wind was magnificent and I literally couldn't put it down! Grab yourself a copy today, you won't be disappointed I promise!

I love her writing style. I love the plot and characters in this series. However there was a cpl times where it didnt transition well for me. I'm not sure what it is with this one. Something was just off at moments. It wasn't to the point that I won't finish the series but it just didnt have a consistent flow like the first 2 books. Hoping the last one in February meets expectations!😘

Someone actually came between Cass and her cake. I'm not going to tell you who, but I will tell you that it doesn't last long and she quickly returns to loving her favorite food. I swear my jaw hit the floor when I read that.With every book in this series, I love Cass more and more. She is still that wonderful blend of immaturity and fearless God that I enjoy so much. She is still the spunky, kick-a**, hard-outer-shell-with-a-gooey-center, protector and destroyer. I love her recklessness and her fake it til you make it take on every situation. I love the way her men spoil her and treat her like the treasure she is. I love the way she is collecting friends and protectors while at the same time snubbing her nose at all her enemies.Things are starting to peak in this one. New enemies are encountered, new alliances are formed, and things get a little bit darker for Cass. She is starting to get more info on who she really is and just what she's capable of (YAY!) but that knowledge brings her to the attention of people she isn't quite ready to deal with. There is pain in this one. Not everything is a bed of roses and there is sorrow mingled in with the joy, but that is what happens when you go to war with the Gods.I love this series. I love Meg's writing style and the way her words pick me up and place me in the story like I'm living it. I love the bits of humor and the glimpses of dark that coexist in this world. I am enjoying tagging along while Cass grows into herself and all the struggles that go with that. The story is fast-paced and has plenty of action that keeps you on the edge of your seat. There is also passion and romance that heats you up and melts your heart. I am once again waiting impatiently for the next book in this series and I highly recommend this and every other book by this author.

She is more than anyone imagined which she proves to the gods who thought they could contain her. Cass is an extremely tough and adaptive character. She refuses to be caged again and will fight anything and anyone who stands between her and her freedom with her mates.Cass is ready to be the weapon everyone needs her to be, she is ready to do whatever it takes to destroy the gods who have targeted her. But not all the gods appear to be the monsters she has experienced. With enemies everywhere and a slowly growing number of allies, Cass is preparing for war and it's coming quick.A Court of Ice and Wind is an amazing story in this fantastic series. This author writes dark and gritty fantasy but manages to weave in amazing bits of humor and romance that keep me coming back for more. Book 4 cannot come soon enough!

My son is 5 and was assigned a space project for his pre-k class. I ordered this book because for some reason pop-up books always seem to stoke his interest more than a traditional illustrated book does. I found myself enjoying this book as much as he did and now know more space facts than I did when I was in school. I would highly recommend this for any child space enthusiast or for any parent wanting to get their child interested in astronomy.

Bought this for my 7 year old who has been asking for a book about astronomy. She really likes it. The illustrations are beautiful and it is very informative. Only complaint is we wish it was a longer book.
