A really thorough depiction of the eras of various styles of caboose utilization by the railroads. A lot of fun.
Sadly, the railroad caboose has all but become a faint memory for most people. Written with a good mix of history and tongue-in-cheek wit, this is a very entertaining read for anyone interested in railroads and their colorful past.

Mr. Knapke has given us the ability to go back in time and see what it was really like living and working on a caboose. Not only does he explain the jobs and conditions for the workers, but he includes all aspects of life as a train conductor.
