Aqeedah is the foundation and core of the Islamic religion. It is what every act of worship is built upon. The principal of Tawheed (the oneness of God) is profound and needs further clarification among Muslims. This point is vividly illustrated by the fact that some Muslims like Ibn Arabi understood Tawheed to mean Allah is all and all is Allah. Such beliefs are pantheistic in nature and as such, kufr (disbelief). Other Muslims such as the Mu'tazilah felt that Tawheed consisted of stripping Allah of all His attributes and asserting that He is present everywhere and in everything. This is divergence in the very essence of Tawheed.I ordered this book for my children and sadly, immediately recognized the Mu'tazilite belief that Allah is everywhere. Indeed, Allah's signs are everywhere, but the book is about them searching for Allah. Missing is the most important point :"Where is He?"There are many proofs that Allah is separate from his creation, but an explicit and direct reference is given here in this hadeeth.Mu'awiyah ibn al Hakam said, 'I had a servant girl who used to tend to my sheep in the area of Mount Uhud, near a place called al-Jawwariyah. One day I came to see them only to find that a wolf had made off with a sheep from her flock. Since I, like the rest of Adam's descendants, am prone to do regrettable acts, I gave her a terrible slap in her face. When I came to Allah's messenger with the story, he considered it a grave thing for me to have done. I said, 'O' Messenger of Allah couldn't I free her?' He replied, 'Bring her to me', so I brought her. He then asked her, 'WHERE IS ALLAH?' and she replied, 'ABOVE THE SKY'. Then he asked her, 'Who am I?' and she replied, 'You are Allah's messenger.' So he said, 'Free her, for verily she is a believer.' Collected by Muslim, Hadith no.1094.The consensus of the scholars: The salaf (pious predecessors) agreed that Allah is above the heavens, as is reported by scholars such as al-Dhahabi, may Allah have mercy on him, in his book Al-‘Aluw li’l-‘Aliy al-Ghaffar.***As for the parents and the author, I highly recommend Bilal Philips book on Tawheedhttps://www.amazon.com/Fundamentals-Tawheed-Islamic-Monotheism/dp/B008MT37KQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1543365951&sr=8-2&keywords=tawheed+bookThere are SEVEN clear proofs addressing this very issue in this book. Overall, I highly recommend The Fundamentals of Tawheed by Dr. Philips because of its simplicity in conveying a very important message that has been neglected by mainstream Muslims. It's never too late to correct our beliefs for as long as we are on this Earth, we continue to learn. I was raised with the incorrect understanding of that section of Tawheed (names and attributes of Allah). I never thought anything of it until I became a full time student of Islamic Studies and then and only then, did I truly understand the implications of my misunderstanding. The immanence concept (Allah is everywhere) is very dangerous primarily because it encourages, defends and rationalizes the greatest sin in Allah's sight, the worship of his creation. It is also an aspect of shirk in Tawhid al Asma was-Sifat as it claims for God an attribute which does not belong to Him. Neither in the Quran or the Sunnah can such a description be found. In fact, both the Quran and the Sunnah confirm the opposite. The history of the Mu'tazilites is a very wicked one and their poison permeated throughout the Muslim world for hundreds of years and sadly to this very day and time.

I love this book. Even though it says it's the search for Allah, it could work just as well as a spiritual book for any theistic or spiritual view. The book is about a boy and his duck who are looking for God. They encounter different animals who say that God can't just be seen literally the way you would see other physical objects. Eventually the boy realizes that the lesson is that God instead can be seen by the joy and wonder of the world around you. I like the spiritual nature of the book and the fact that while dealing with an inherently religious topic, it isn't overly preachy.

Islamically accurate (ordered and read for Islamic accuracy) prior to gifting to my nephews. You want to provide your children with good books at a young age to ensure a strong moral base. However, with any religious related material, it is important to ensure that all of the information is accurate. I can verify that there are no inaccuracies in this book.

It's so rare to find a book for Muslim kids that isn't preachy or poorly illustrated. This book is everything I've wanted packed into one book. Both of my boys (ages 3 & 6) love it and ask me to read it to them regularly. It definitely helps to explain a complex question to a young mind, while honoring the curiosity of children as well.I know there were some concerns about how the book actually deals with the location of Allah. I was actually concerned about this too, and wished the book's description would tell us, so we wouldn't have to figure it out after the purchase. The answer from the book is that we believe in Allah's existence because of all the beauties of creation that we see all around us. That's how we know Allah is there. However, the refrain "Allah is all around us. He created . . . . (the mountains, birds, fish, etc.)" is repeated throughout the book. Anyone having a problem with that explanation would be advised not to purchase the book.

Wonderfully told story with cute illustrations that really capture my 5 yr. old child's attention. It peaks his interest in the topic without going into too much detail which is great because, it allows the parent to have a more open-ended discussion about the topic then they could have if everything was laid out.I also really enjoyed the size of the book....it isn't a small board book but an oversized picture book. This is great because, it really allows the illustrations to pop. Most importantly, my children really enjoy the book!

My 4.5 year old absolutely loves this book! Ilyas' question is something my son has wondered for himself so it's fun to see Ilyas work through it. I liked how the author incorporated various animals and geographical destinations. These are animals and places that my son has read about before, and learned about in school so it's great to see these references. Even my 14 month old is interested in this book as she sees her brother reading it. I hope there are more books coming in this series b/c my son is anxiously waiting!

Wonderful book, mashallah, from the colorful vivid illustrations to the cute story. Wish there were more simple stories, most Muslim children’s books use big words and too many words, this was perfect. I hope to see more books from this author, inshallah. For those who think it's too expensive, it was priced at $18.75 when I purchased it & I used an Amazon coupon code for 30% off any one book (which come out every now & then) which made it $13.

A moving tale (and a moving tail) of a boy and his duck trying to find God. Simple words yet not overly simplistic, unimaginative or patronising. The storyline is powerful enough to appeal to toddlers and adults alike. Reading this story is a form of zikr that's why when reading stories after stories after stories to my children, Ilyas and Duck is one story I don't mind reading and rereading and the children find it equally fascinating every time.
