About the Author

Mary Fabyan Windeatt lived from 1910-1979 and grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada. The Mount Saint Vincent College awarded her a Licentiate of Music degree when she was just seventeen, and she began writing Catholic works when she was about twenty-four. Later she sent one of her stories to a Catholic magazine, and after it was accepted, she continued to write. IMy mother had the hardbound book. It had a nice, fabric covered blue cover with a silver imprint of the first chapter heading illustration. I loved the book as a child. When I grew up, I asked my mom if might have the book someday. She gave it to me. I have actually treasured it. So, when I was looking for a thank you gift for our catechetical team at the church, and with this being the 100th anniversary of the Fatima events, I wanted to give this book. I don't care that some people say it is a child's book. My mother and I enjoyed it as adults. I don't care that some people say it is not 100% accurate. It's a story, for heaven's sakes--not a documentary. How in the world can you write a story about something historical without adding dialogue, etc. If a person wasn't there, you do the best you can with the story as it has been told and you add what you need to make sense of what children may say to one another. Anyway, in searching for this book, I couldn't find a hardbound version like my book, and I don't mean that it had to have a blue cover with silver imprint. I was just looking for a hardbound closer to that--a presentation style book. If I couldn't find that, then this paperback is really as close as I could come. Sad about that. So, I couldn't give it five stars because it was not exactly what I was wanted. The content of the book is really what matters and it is a beautiful story of a miraculous series of events.

A very thorough and orthodox book on Fatima. My only concern is that the language was very old-fashioned and difficult for the average modern child to understand. I tried using it for read-alouds during catechism class, but most of the kids didn't get it, and I had to paraphrase.

Fatima story is a historical event that many people during the 6 months of apparitions were present at.And about 70, 000 witnessed the Miracle on October 13, 1917The Miracle was even written about in the secular newspaper which had just the day before scoffered about the apparitions.Many journalists, atheists, people of science and even those in the surrounding areas of the event that where not present at the actual site witnessed the same miracle.Unfortunately this particular book is written as a novel, rather than based on the historic facts.Dialogue added, motives added, and events edited to own imagination.Our Lady of Fatima by WalshMore about FatimaFatima 2017Good books for adultsThere r 2 small b ooks written about Francisco and JacintaUnfortunately with children books authors often take too much licenceIf u don't mind this as a novel instead of historical then it is very well written and easy to understandExamples:Francisco is made to seem like he didn't like to pray the Rosary. In fact Francisco seems more directed to mental and contemplative prayer than the girls.Purely fictional addition.The children r said to spend time telling each other stories before the apparition of the angel but no where is that mentioned in factual books. They were playing games. Plus Lucia was the one that was a good story teller to entertain younger children when she helped take care of them.Jacinta and Francisco r said to say that Lucia saw the Lady too because they didn't want to be punished. No recall of their parents threatening them with punishment, just that mom and siblings didn't believe them. And they said they were telling the truth and Lucia could vouch for them.Just things that don't match up with anything written in historical books on the subject. And this just in the beginning. Which combind makes it more novel like when these things could easily been kept in line with the adult historical books written.

My daughter loves all of Mary Fabyan Windeatt's books. This is no exception. She's a wonderful writer for elementary school children. Even into junior high. I've used these books to create puppet shows for younger children as well (using the dialogue). One of the best writers for Saint stories!

Mary Fabyan Windeatt has a real gift for writing and touching your soul with the amazing and important lives of the saints. Her books are amazing, and this one is no exception. I don't know who gets more out of her books: children, or adults! This book is absolutely wonderful and worth every penny. I even bought a second copy to loan to people! So many people don't know about Our Lady of Fatima. Her messages are so timely and extremely important. A must read!

I have enjoyed reading this book as much as my daughter. We have been talking about our Mother and how we can ask her for intercessions and this book is nice to show her that these children had FAITH to ask our Mother and to do penance for their sins and the sins of the world.

Very interesting and inspiring true story of events in Portugal in 1917 involving 3 young children. Great book for children to read and learn about history. Also good for parents to read to them.

Dr. recommended this to us, so I got it for my 17 year old son. He wouldn't do it on his own for sure, but I assigned 3 chapters a week as a chore, the chapters are so short, that might take 30 minutes total. I look over his answers later. I think it is a fairly painless way to get your ADHD kid to take a look at themselves and some possible solutions.

The activities are short, but thoughtful. We've been doing them together since my teen can't muster enough focus for one more thing after trying hard all day at school. I can see how they lead the reader along into reframing how they think and feel and react to ADHD. I also bought the Mindfulness one and think they will make a great one-two punch to help my teen prep for college since he's still struggling in high school.

This was meant for teenagers that are 16-17 who can reflect on themselves. It is not meant for younger teens

My daughter, who has ADD, completed this book in three days. She loved it and found it really helpful. I recommend it!!!

This is a great workbook. It's relatable for my teen, not boring. When he sits down with this, it engages him.

I like that it acknowledges various challenges, and breaks them up into small activities to help the teen be introspective to what challenges they are having and provides ideas on how to tackle them to be successful.

Great lesson for individual counseling or group. I use these lessons with my students in small groups and individual counseling sessions.

Our 11 year old has the Kindle version and really appreciated the book as it sort of told her that she was ok and not so different as she has ADHD. The only problem with the Kindle version is the exercises which she had to do in her head so we also bought the book version so she could complete them.

Lots of good information, well written, lots of action, keeps you interested

Full disclosure: Tony is a friend of mine. But I have other friends who've written books I didn't review here because I didn't love them (the books, not the friends!). Cuba Libre is a fantastic read. Tony asked me to look at it and consider writing a blurb. I figured I'd read a chapter or two, determine whether or not I could recommend it with a clear conscience, and then get back to my own work. Instead, I spent two days with my nose buried in this thing, absorbing the experience of being part of the Cuban revolution, hanging with Fidel and Che and the women they loved, tasting the food they concocted from what they could buy from grateful villagers, smell the tropical rain.... This is a book that pulses and breathes with unexpected insight, humor, and erudition. I can't recommend it highly enough.

For those who want to learn about the most unusual revolution to ever take place in the Western Hemisphere, you simply MUST get this book. The book is a fascinating, tumultuous journey with extraordinary detail, written with great humor as well. What an enjoyable book. Even though I'm in my 50s I knew very little about Fidel, Che, and the Cuban Revolution. The author did a fantastic job telling this incredible story. I find with books like these that I sometimes have trouble keeping track of all of people mentioned, but the author wrote in such a way that each character stood out. Also, I loved the way the author reviewed Cuba’s history in the early part of the book, giving enough detail to set context but not slowing the book down with too much detail.As for the story of Fidel, Che, and the rebels, it was nothing short of astonishing. They were so outnumbered and they made so many mistakes, and yet they prevailed thanks to cleverness, charisma, commitment, and often, luck. I enjoyed learning about Fidel and Che as well as the women who participated in the Revolution. This book is a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at an incredible historical event.

Author does a great job of assembling even the minute facts and revealing the lack of any glory in the Cuban Revolt. It sounds like a group of stooges led by a bipolar leader who was terribly unprepared for any task at hand which resulted in the death , capture and torture of many loyal but ignorant followers. A Woodstock gone very wrong. One thing the author reveals is the awesome and misleading power the media offers in deluding the public and it's leaders. So relevant to today's political climate. The book is a telltail reveal it all on corruption that existed on both sides of the Cuban environment of the 50's. Such a terrible waste of life in the desire for money , power and control of the Cuban people.

A page turner of a history book that only Tony Perrottet could write. Cuba Libre fills an important gap in the history of Cuba. Hitherto there had been no accessible histories of the Cuban Revolution save for dry academic tomes. What Mr. Perrottet has given us is an entertaining read, a well-researched history, and an informative book that I devoured.

I just finished reading book two in the Sun Blessed Trilogy by Carol Beth Anderson. Carol continues to impress me with her strong, consistent story telling. Book two continues the great character development of our main and supporting characters. Tullen and Tavi, grow and mature very naturally as they head into their mid-teen years. One of Carol’s great strengths as a story teller is her ability to keep her characters realistic and interesting as we watch them grow and progress like real teens do. There are ups and downs in relationships in book two, just as there is in real life as we grow into adulthood. There are also joys and sorrows that the characters are forced to deal with just like we do in our lives. The character and plot development in book two make it inevitable that small parts of the story will slow down a bit. Please don’t let that discourage you, since this makes the entire book more enjoyable throughout – especially toward the end. We also get to see some of the evil characters grow and evolve throughout the book, which is often not the case in fantasy novels. In many books the evil characters start out despicable and stay that way throughout. While Konner is reliably more and more evil, Ash and a few other Grays begin to show a bit of a conscience about the evil they are creating. Book two comes to a bang of a finish (literally) and leaves me anxious to start the final book in the series right away. If you’ve started the Sun Blessed Trilogy, trust when I say you’ve got to finish it. If you haven’t started then trust me when I say you’ll be so happy when you do!

And the adventure continues. Tavi, Sullen and their friends are plotting how to confront and defeat the Gray magicians. They relocate to the big city, having to hide out or venture out in disguise all the time while developing their plan. Then it turns out that the fellow helping them is himself a Gray magician, although possibly not in league with the rest of the Grays – IF he can be believed. Nobody is convinced of that.Will these Gold magicians, little more than children, be able to defeat a group of dedicated, experienced adults dead set on taking over the entire nation? It sounds rather daunting, when it’s put like that. Of course, some dissension in the Gray ranks doesn’t hurt. But can they? Or will they be conscripted into the Gray ranks? Or killed outright?Intriguing questions, aren’t they?

Many thanks to Carol Beth Anderson for the complimentary copy of this audio book for my honest review. Facing the Gray is the second installment of the Sun Blessed Trilogy and I very much appreciate not having to wait a year between the installments of this series. This book thickens the plot that was begun in the first novel and deepens the development of the characters maturity both personally and in life experience while driving the plot forward. One element of this series that I think Anderson shows mastery of is the depth of reflection entertained by the characters. Her language eloquently expresses the deep thinking of Tavi and her friends as they assess their personal and interpersonal decisions, passions and interactions. Anderson weaves together a historical background in which the characters participate in and address both big picture/world political elements and struggle with personal temptation to give into passions coupled with the will to identify and stand up for what is true and good. I think this is striking to me because this depth in my experience is not found in many novels that I've read for young adults and I think it's a critical component to their personal and social growth. I highly recommend this book and look forward to listening to the final installment of the trilogy.

Great second book in the series! I liked the progression of the plot and the growing maturity of the gifted youth. I really liked the inclusion of the midwives in books 1 and 2, and their special place in nurturing, teaching, bringing a reverence for human life, and imparting the knowledge that every child blesses the world with his/her uniqueness. I can't wait to read the final book in this lovely trilogy.

Facing the Gray is the second book in the Sun Blessed Trilogy by Carol Beth Anderson. I continue to enjoy the story, but I began to feel like the story was dragging. It has amazing moments that grabbed my emotions. In the beginning, I was frequently crying. On one page I'd be sad with Tavi, and then soon after I'd be furious with her. I found her immature and impulsive behaviors frustrating at times. Then I would remember that she is sixteen dealing with very serious situations. In the last half of the book, I would be reading and the suspense would be so much that I had to put the book down. Of course, I quickly picked it back up to find out what happened. The book ends leaving the reader with anticipation of how the conflict will be resolved in the final book. This book is a Young Adult book but is appropriate for pre-teens to adults. I recommend reading this series, just be aware that there may be some slow pages to wade through. I give this book three stars, while the trilogy remains four stars in my mind.

The shock at the beginning was almost enough to turn me off this series before I even started...But I'm so glad I kept reading! The events in the beginning of this one now make sense, and it really does serve a purpose, so I'm happy.As the second book in a series, I'm not to say too much, since this one continues where the first book left off. Tavi and the Golds (her friends) have gotten themselves tangled up with the Grays (a band of mostly older magics users with a corrupted form of magic.) This one has a little more action and the characters have to make some difficult decisions.

This is a must read for anyone serious about prayer and the things of God, especially if you are wondering why we don't see revival in America. It is interesting to note that, while this book was written in the late 1950's when church attendance was high and the "church" was much more Biblical if I may say, the problems we face today were present then. The difference is that they are magnified today due to our slothfulness in prayer and our love for the world. I read this book while preaching a revival back in the early 1980's and this second read has produced much more. also, I have heard the author pray when back in 1977 and believe me, he CAN pray. ,

This was a great read. I feel so convicted for my lack of love for God, due to reading this book. I feel like my faith and my relationship to God is so shallow. I've already encouraged others to read this classic book and I will continue to do so. This book will open your eyes to your faith and encourage you to grow in your relationship with God.

If I find out that any of my Christian friends hasn't read this, I either buy them their own, or immediately hand them mine to borrow. I now have both a hard copy and a kindle version.It's a very powerful message, from a very anointed preacher. It will make you "examine yourself" the way we are commanded to do (2 Corinthians 13:5). It will have you praying like never before. It will have you trusting and believing God. It will give you a heart for the lost in a way you've never imagined.I want to quote the book to give you a taste, but there are so many good quotes. I don't think I could stop myself if I started quoting. I'd end up posting the whole book! Just get it, read it, and let it sink in!

This is one of the classic texts dealing with revival, and justifiably so. Modern readers may stumble upon some of Ravenhill's prose - it reads more like a series of sermon transcripts than anything written for the eye - but the wise will discern the passion behind the words.This is very worthy of an annual reading.

This book is not a "sit down and read at one sitting" book. It's a book that will send anyone with a burdened heart to their knees every chapter. I've read it several times. Now I can have it even when I can't get to my library.

If you want your heart set on fire, read this book. I will not be the same after reading this. God is calling you. So many times we get complacent in our mediocrity and we go to church and come home with no point and no purpose when we're supposed to be Holy Spirit filled servants. This will help you align with that purpose and realize that God is at the door knocking. And revival is indeed coming to the world!

The very book I needed in this season of my life! If you seek the truth, if you seek righteousness, if you are hungry for the move of God in your life and through your life, look no further,this book can kick start , secure and/or accelerate the process! It has been of great spiritual resource to me in this generation where there's abundance of everything but scarcity of the power of the Holy Spirit and revival!

I consider this book required reading for any preacher pastor or student of the bible. A true classic that willchallenge and convict any saved individual searching for something more powerful that what we are seeing in these days. Mr Ravenhill writes with fire and flame that will burn the heart and will prompt repentance. I stayed under conviction on every page and will read this book each year. You won't be disappointed by reading, even though you will be bothered.
