Book has beautiful illustrations, but I was very surprised by one of the pages. See attached pic. I’mnot ready to explain gay marriage to my 6 year old.

I gave this book to my grandchildren because I am a quilter, and love to bestow my quilts on those I love. I understand it's meaning and message, and hate to give it a bad review, but be warned. My grandchildren were in tears after the 2nd Grandma died. Not for sensitive children who love their grandmas.

The original version of this book is wonderful. It was a favorite read aloud story of my elementary students and myself for years. When I ordered copies of the 25th edition for my grandchildren I was not aware that the original was changed. I will not read this version to my grandchildren because of the ending.

my daughter in law who is having a baby is Jewish. i made a quilt for the baby and i tucked this book in with it. it was perfect accompaniment. the story is beautifully told...about family, traditions, and the circle of life. the quilt was made with clothing from the family members "basket of clothes". the quilt is then handed down through the generations...becoming a part of the important celebrations...from wedding canopies, to tablecloths for the sabbath dinner, to wrapping a new baby within it's love. the book was poignant...and i hope my quilt will be passed down through the generations as well as it surrounds her with love throughout the years..

This book inspired me to create a quilt for a friend's daughter whose wedding is in January. I have asked the members of her family and friends to contribute to the quilt and I have a friend who is a quilter. So, yes, I enjoyed this sweet little book.

Patricia Polacco is one of the greatest storytellers of our generation. She has put down snippets of not only her life, but of her ancestors, into delightful stories that transcends all age groups. THE KEEPING QUILT is about Polacco's Great-Grandmother Anna, who immigrated to New York City. The only two things that she still owned from her native Russia were her dress and a babushka. Anna's mother eventually takes parts of her dress and babushka along with old clothes belonging to other relatives and makes a quilt that will remind everyone of their homeland. This quilt serves as a source of comfort and memories for future generations. This is another book that I bought my daughter for her birthday. She will read this book to her second graders perhaps inspiring a new generation to write down the memories of the past.

The book was in good condition. The story is good, too. There four quilters in our family. My mother's quilts had stories in them. So I love the book.

This is an excellent textbook for academia and industry alike, although the style leans towards academia. The book introduces various machine learning methods in detail like matrix factorization, PLSA, LDA, SVD, clustering, classification, and deep learning. The exposition is clear, intuitive, and certainly not dry, which can sometimes be a risk for mathematically oriented books. Coverage of deep learning includes some unique perspectives on word2vec, RNNs, and LSTMs. Beautiful presentation of word2vec is provided together with its relationship to matrix factorization. Even though word2vec is also covered in Jurafsky (Chapter 16) and in some other books, the details here are far greater than any other book I have seen.The insights and connections in the book are pretty amazing. Word2vec is connected to matrix factorization, SVMs/RFs are connected to nearest neighbors, NMF is connected to PLSA, and so on. Insights are provide on why kernels truly work and the procedure for systematic kernelization of arbitrary problems is provided. Other covered topics include opinion mining, summarization, text segmentation, and information extraction. Examples and pseudocodes are given in many chapters.The book covers all the three aspects of machine learning (deep focus), information retrieval, (light focus), and sequence-centric topics like information extraction/summarization. The style and quality of writing is somewhat similar to "An Introduction to Information Retrieval" by Manning although the content and coverage are quite different (and more extensive). Manning focuses on IR and touches on machine learning, whereas this book focuses on machine learning and touches on IR. The book contains about 500 pages, although the amount of content is larger than other books of comparable size because of the smaller font used.This book is clearly not a programming or implementation book, and it seems to be targeted to university classrooms, with a presentation thatis independent of specific programming frameworks (like Python). This is on par for a university textbook, and preferable for someone from academia. Nevertheless, industry can benefit too, because the pseudocodes and detailed explanations are sufficient for a mathematically and algorithmically competent engineer to implement what they want. The author also provides bibliographic summaries with pointers to softwareresources.

This is the single best global guide there is. Period. Sure--there is google. Try that on your next trip. LOL. I've said this several times. I've removed underwear to pack this guidebook. I never jump the globe without it (of course until the new one is released--usually April-ish each year). This is so cheap....it's under 2 drinks in any upper class global club! Have fun!!!

The book is inclusive of many hotels, restaurants, bars, etc. The content of 1,300 pages is way exaggerated as each listing is translated into 5 different languages. Would have been much better/concise/convenient to sell a single edition of 250 pages for each language. There are also a multitude of advertisements throughout. If I were receiving the info for free the ads would be understandable, but to pay upwards of thirty US and be inundated with ads- ugh! Worse of all, the print is close to microscopic; about a size 4-5 font. One has to literally pull out a magnifying glass to peruse the book. IMO, the book is a waste of money and the content would have been much better published through a .pdf file to view (and zoom) on an ipad or even a subscription to an app. Was going to purchase other Spartacus pubs, but no way in hell after this one!

Chris Bass worked in advertising for 30 years, with a large proportion of that on or for Mercedes-Benz, covering everything from new model launches to after-sales. During this time, in 1997, he became Editor of the Mercedes-Benz Club Gazette, a role he still carries today. This award-winning journal has a strong history of technical content, and Chris has been able to draw on its many articles on SLK ownership, maintenance, and repair, in writing this book. He has driven just about every Mercedes-Benz model built since the 1980s, and maintains two of his own, with his W210 190E having covered in excess of 217,000 miles. His mechanical experience extends to restoring an Allard and a Triumph TR4A, as well as maintaining a Triumph Herald convertible and a 1930 Crossley Silver.

Perfunctory and extremely superficial book that could be written about almost any vehicle and provides very little specific knowledge to a potential purchaser of the Mercedes sl-class. It misses the most major points a potential purchaser should examine, is slim on proprietary info relevant to the car, and needs more SL facts, and is basically a photo book that could instead be marketed to 16 year olds with generalized advice on how to buy a used car. If you are serious about buying a Pagoda, skip this book completely. It doesn't even rank well as a photo book vs others available.A 10 minute Google search will provide you much more buying information than this book ever could. Don't waste your money.

After I received this book I realized I had seen others in the series in the past and was disappointed. If you have never engaged in classic cars and are just beginning , then this series may be for you. It covers the full range of items one should consider and should be valuable to the beginner.For more experienced collectors, this will be a disappointment as only the most elementary info is given. I was considering a MB 280 sl when I bought it but found small help in this volume.

Very practical and helpful!

The 113 'Pagoda' models are growing in popularity and value making all books on the subject more important than ever. Books dedicated to the 113 aren't available in large numbers and so far, this is the only model-specific 'guide' extant.Unfortunately it is a book from the UK, a place where a good number of these cars have dissolved like Alka Seltzer tablet due to rust. This is the main focus of the book, though important, not the least of what you should know about an SL. Yes, there is more than rust prone areas discussed here but not much more. This is a small book and alot has been left out. There are Mercedes Benz buyers guides out there and most have tons more info on the 113. Also the excellent 'Original Mercedes SL' is a great book for the buyer-to-be even though it also covers the 190 and 300 SL's it is still, the best book on these cars and the only one that is detailed enough to discuss things like color codes. That book is out of print and getting expensive but in this case, 'original SL' is worth it and 'Mercedes Benz Pagoda' is not.

I've been reading Feist's Magician novels for some 20 years now, starting from a chance introduction from a college friend during a lazy summer day while looking for something to pass my time. Feist is definitely among my favorite authors. I enjoyed Rise of a Merchant Prince along with the rest of the Serpent War Saga.My review is with respect to the quality of its e-book digitalization.As I've been working overseas for many years, without access to my print library of Feist's work, I decided to purchase the Kindle Editions for a nostalgic re-read (downloaded Nov 2015). I have to say that I've been somewhat disappointed with the product received.Many subsections are not formatted correctly with paragraphs concatonated and sections merged together. If I wasn't already familiar with the story, it could lead to some confusion. In one particular section, notably when Roo approaches Erik for a loan, minor continuity details of the exchange with the Duke have been omitted. Overall it's as if the person(s) responsible for digitalization and editing haven't read the story before or proofed the work for continuity before release.It's a shame that the digitalization was so poorly completed; it detracted from my ability to enjoy the story again.Should the publisher update the editing, I will likewise be happy to update my review.

I'm enjoying the book and series and would rate this 5 stars is it wasn't for the terrible editing of the Kindle edition.My word is it bad. There are typos everywhere and paragraphs that should not flow directly into each other do. For example, two separate section of the story but in the same chapter that should be separated by a line break but are not. It's jarring and takes me out of the story. Far enough out that I've stopped reading to make this complaint. It's like the publisher just slapped a paperback on the scanner and sent it off to Amazon without proofing it first.

I've always thought this book stood out as a little different. Some people might argue that it is really unneeded as it doesn't advance the plot of the Serpent War much. However, I like the more personal story of Rio and his rise to wealth. It gives a different perspective of the world, that you wouldn't see in most fantasy settings. The Kindle edition could do with some editing as you go from one sentence talking about Roo, to the next talking about Calis on the other side of the world with no page breaks.

I love the Serpentwar saga, but this ebook is terribly formatted. Any non-chapter transition is lost. The usual visual indicators... font changes, spacing... are completely absent, leading to a jarring and confusing reading experience.

A continuation of a fantasy series that is really enjoyable. Most of the book didn't follow up on the previous book, but I'm sure it will all tie together in the end. The book has interesting characters, a great plot, as long as you don't mind spending time reading a series that is going to be two more books after this one. Well worth the time.

Not going to do a book report for you but this book builds on the first one in the series and relates to earlief (in their timeline). So if this is the first one you have read, or want to read, STOP RIGHT NOW! Go to Wikipedia and read the series from start to finish.

However, it was very clear that the book had been prepared for ebook format through an optical scan, not from a text file. There were numerous typographical, spelling and punctuation errors as a result. There are no characters or lines - only an extra space - to break scenes. Since the line spacing is fairly loose to begin with, that made for some confusing moments. The production of the ebook does not do Feist's works justice.This assessment applies to the Kindle versions of all four Serpentwar books - Shadow of a Dark Queen, Rise of a Merchant Prince, Rage of a Demon King and Shards of a Broken Crown. All were apparently prepared for publication in the same way, sans proofreading, with text just dumped on the page.

Rupert is a flawed character which is why I didn't like him when I was young but like him much more now as an adult on later rereading. Kind of wished he had a little bit more in later books.

This is my second year using the Budgeting Planner. I am pleased with the updates that were made to the 2019 version. However, I would recommend on the bill tracker page to have a column with the amount due or budgeted column to be added to the next version. Also, at the end of the planner if it has a page to summarize the year (successes, pitfalls, etc.)Otherwise, great planner to use if you want to knock out debt.

Pretty simple. Is not one of those expensive, nonsensical budget books. Seems foolish to spend a lot of money for expensive ones with stickers. It's about budgeting for heaven's sake. This planner is easy to figure out and is simple to learn where to do adjustments and easy to see improvements! Thank you!!!
